I'm home

Hi everyone. Before I give you my update, I'd just like to thank EVERYONE for all their concern and well wishes. It was so nice and comforting. My mom read me every single one.

Now, shortly after my mom updated that I was in the hospital, she got a call from the vet and had to come pick me up. I was super unhappy that mom and dad left... so I ripped out my IV, flipped my ecollar and busted out of my crate. So Ms. Nice Vet Lady told mom I was too stressed and I'd be better at home bc she was afraid I would get worse if I was stressed. Finally, people start listening to the Corbin!

But, I'm not going to sugar coat it, friends... I'm still in quite a bit of pain. I've been drinking water with some chicken broth bc mom said I'll have to go back to the vet if I don't. I tried eating a bit of chicken and rice this morning, so as long as that stays down, I can have some more later.

Thanks again for caring so much about me... I'm going to go take a nap on the couch.

-Corbin

And, PS... please go vote for me to be Mayzie's date for the. Valentine's dance! What could make a guy feel better than knowing he had a dance with a beautiful brindle gal to look forward too?!

  2. Sometimes the best medicine (and care) is at home - get better soon, Corbin! Turk wants to win that date with Mayzie fair and square, not by default because you are too sick to take her! :)

  3. Corbin, we are so glad you are home, but that might not have been the best way to get their attention. We thinks everyone can heal better at home when they get lots of mommy snuggles. We continue to send you healing drool for you. One thing our Momma found out when Cleo had this, the vet suggested giving her little pieces of white bread between meals to help with acid build up. If you see Corbin licking the floor or the air it may because he has acid build up from the tummy trobules. The bread really seems to help with the acids and stuffs. But you might want to check with your vet first to be sure it is okay. Sniffs, The HoundDogs

  23. We still have our paws crossed for you, Corbin. Even though Jed is also entered for a date with Miss Mayzie, we're gonna go vote for you just so you'll be better sooner.

We're sure your vet has already told your mom about pancreatitis, but a LOW FAT, limited protein diet is essential. Abby gets Ranitidine before each meal, Pepto pills and prednisone as necessary. We eat 99% fat-free grilled chicken mixed with our low-fat kibble. K's mom cooks for her from scratch, after she got a customized diet made by a veterinary dietician.

Symptoms of distress include: sticking your fanny up in the air in what looks like an inappropriate play bow, which relieves pressure on the pancreas; eating grass or inappropriate things in the house - furniture, dust bunnies, scraps of paper, etc.; and, of course, vomiting.

If you can't keep fluids down, your mom can learn from your vet how to give you an IV at home where she can sit with you while it drips in, to rehydrate you. It's not fun, but it can be done.

We're keeping our paws crossed for you, dude. And Abby is sending special Member of the Pancreatitis Club get well soon vibes your way.

  28. Oh Corbin I sure hope you are feeling better soon. This all sounds very scary and I'm glad your Momma listened to her gut. I know when i was a wee pup wif kennel cough Momma added pedialite to my drinking water, maybe you can ask your vet about that. Please get better soon, too many of us aren't at our best right now.

  29. Corbin! What the heck? I am very worried about you and I know that you are a tough guy and all but I think your mom is worried too. I hope you are feeling better soon. I can't blame you for wanting to break out of the hospital, but that means you need to do exactly what mom says, OK?

  32. Corbin - please don't rip out IVs or bust out of crates! I'm glad that you're home, and I hope that you keep getting better. Drink that chicken broth because staying hydrated is the key to staying out the hospital. We know after K's pancreatitis bouts.

Take care, Corbin. We'll be thinking of you.

  38. When my angel brother Tucker had his pan-cre-a-titus mom remembers part of it was overs a long holiday weekend. She said Tucker was just like you. He wouldn't have any of that staying at the vet nonsense so mom had to bring him home too! She said that while he was home she had to give him his IV fluids AND his shots all by herself!! She hated doing it but says Tucker was such a good patient and he know that she was helping him to get the betterments. So you be good for your momma Corbin, listen to her, take your medicines (even if they taste yuckies) and eat your foodables so you can get back to being your ol' handsome self!!

Sending you buckets of love - HoneyBuzz
