Another Corbin Update

Corbin's momma here again... Corbin refuses to drink, so we've been back to the vet yesterday afternoon and this morning to get some fluids, he won't even let them take him in the back to do it, so he sits in my lap and the tech comes into the exam room for him. He's still in a lot of pain, so we have some pain killers to try.  He's eating very well, and I've been adding tons of water to his food, but it just doesn't seem to be enough.  His gums are very pale.

He's a sure hit at the vets, everyone loves him and he's actually being a really good patient - as long as I'm with him.  He won't let me out of his site, even at home.

Very strange... the typical symptoms for this are vomiting, diarrhea and fever.  He doesn't have any of those symptoms.  Hopefully today is the day he turns around and starts feeling better.  I'd be much more relieved if he'd drink on his own.  I'm going to pick up some meat baby food and try to add that to the water to see if it will interest him.  I keep telling his dad we need to move closer to the vet... it's a 40 minute drive, but well worth it for great vets.

Oh, Corbin...

We're so very thankful for everyones love and support.  Sorry we haven't gotten around to visit... hopefully tomorrow will bring some good news!

Corbin's momma, Jenn

PS.  I'd also like to thank Emily from Our Waldo Bungie for Corbin's sweater.  Corbin has been wearing it to help him keep warm in the house and on his trips to the vet... when he's so dehydrated, he shivers and shakes, and the sweater helps to calm and warm him.  Everyone at our vet office loved it too, we're very thankful for it!

I am so very VERY worried about you and your MOM too. I have my paws crossed and am praying that you will DRINK and start to feel better soon.

I know what you mean about your Vet being 40 mins. away.. Mine is more like 45 or 50... except when we have an EMERGENCY... Then my mom or dad do those Perry County ROLLING STOPS... Only peeps that Live in Perry County are allowed to do those.. Well, that is what my MOM says anyway.

Or I'll make Allred move in with \you until you are feeling better. That should be a good incentive to drink.

  25. This just breaks my heart, Corbin! Please, please, please drink liquids so you'll get better and won't have to keep going back to the vet's office!

  26. Corbin you looks so sad it makes me sad :(. I sure hopes you feel better buddy, drinking will help - you gots to do it. Is it possible for you Momma to feeds you gravy mix instead of the broth, maybe you like that better? What about soft food too? I know when kitteh sister Ellie had all those problems last year and momma & dad had to syringe feed her they used wet food and water and squirted in he mouth. She didn't really like it but she refused to eat or drink. Since you are eating maybe soaking even soft foodables will help? I knows your momma is taking good cares of you.

  32. We are still thinking of you, sending Corbin all the strength we can muster. Our K didn't have the "typical" pancreatitis symptoms in 2 of her 3 bouts either. Dehydration was her main symptom in the atypical bouts. I really hope that you can get Corbin to drink. Or, perhaps they could teach you how to give subcutaneous fluids yourself? Our vet taught us. It's really easy, and it helps a lot in your situation.

Please tell Corbin that I voted for him to be Mayzie's date!

We're keeping all fingers and paws crossed for you.

  33. I am so sorry to hear that Corbin won't drink! We need to fix this fast!! Tell Puddles to send beer. Get him some chicken broth. OH CORBIN, please get better!!!!

  35. Corbin just think of it was yummy meaty juice and not just water....drink, drink, drink. I'm happy to hear you are eating.

Did they have a diagnosis for what is causing you all this discomfort?

We are still praying for you our new friend. Snuggle up with Mom and Dad. You will be all better soon.

PeeS: I found this link thought you or others might be interested. It's a site kinda like WebMD but VetMD for pets and they have a live chat with veterinarians so you can ask questions. Here is the link: http://www.web-dvm.net/symptomchecker.html

  36. Oh, Corbin, we are most worried about you. What KB said about giving subcutaneous fluids is valuable so you might want to check it out with your vet. We know your pawrents are doing their very best for you, but you have to meet them halfway and start drinking.

Paws crossed super tight, Jed & Abby

  37. Corbin, please listen to your mom and drink lots of water. Get well soon, dear!!!

  38. Dear Corbin - You gotz to chase those sickies away by drinking. Maybe you should just close your eyes and pretends you are da Puddles and the water is beer!

Maybe your mom can ask the vet about giving you IV fluids at home. I know it's scary for our moms to have to do stuff like poke us, but it hurts them more than it does us. It isn't that hard to do and your vet can give you lessons. That's why my mom did when my angel brother was this with this. It sure did help my angel brother a lot.

I gotz my paws crossed for you Buddy. After all, you did save me from ZOMBIES once! hehe

  39. Corbin,
I'm so glad you are home. (Read about your little episode at the hospital so you could get released early - you're something pal Shakin my head) I'm thinkin your Mom has a real good idea spikin your water with meat juice. Better drink it up. I'm thinkin if you do maybe you could have spiked water on a daily basis ;)

    Feel better pal!

    Waggin at ya,
    Roo

  40. This is worrisome. Hopefully the vet is considering other possibilities for what is causing his illness. I know the tests for pancreatitis came back positive, but there could be other things going on as well. Not drinking is very alarming and I know how worried you must be. The baby food mush is a great idea, but nothing like IV fluids to keep a body hydrated.

Please keep us posted. We are all here for you and sending out best thoughts.
