Thinking Thursday

Meet Daisy.

Daisy is up for adoption at the rescue mom works with.  She's a 4 month old Cocker Spaniel (mix?) puppy.  Mom has a super soft spot for Cocker Spaniels, so the rescuers she works with down South know to grab them for her when they come in.  Daisy was no different... at least to the girls in the south.  Mom saw her picture and her heart sank... then she took her off the transport van and started crying... mom really loves this puppy.  She's staying with us for the week - along with Bethany and Avery.  Mom always said that if we were to ever get a second dog, it would have to be a little(er) dog.  She has also said she would not adopt a puppy with so many older dogs with less chance of adoption.  She also said black dogs are too hard to photograph (BOL, good excuse, mom).

I sure do get along well with Daisy... better than most fosters.  I'll actually leave her alone to chew a bone and I don't really hassle her 24/7.  She's pretty cool to have around and doesn't hang off of my jowls like Patches did!  She likes to play and run around and she hasn't had any accidents in the house.

After lots of thinking (and I mean, a LOT of thinking)... Mom decided it's best not to adopt Daisy.  We really enjoy fostering and a second dog might hinder our fostering efforts... we wouldn't have as much time to spend with our fosters.  Plus, I sure do like my house to myself every once in a while!

And, I think mom has realized how totally awesome I am.  Because, duh... I'm totally the perfect dog.

  1. Of course you're perfect! DOH!

It's sad your mom can't foster Daisy because it sounds like she loves her so much, but I guess she knows what's best for you and the family.

  2. She is very pretty and it must have taken a lot of restraint for your mom to decide this. Though I think that is very nice to make this decision to help so many more pooches.

  3. Oh Corbin,

Your poor mama. It's so hard to decide to adopt or keep fostering. We obviously gave in because life without Lincoln just wasn't possible. Or at least that's what Mom says. But she's always been told you will know when the right one comes in. So keep fostering those precious babies until then. Good luck and great job!

  4. I could never foster. I'd have 87 bajillion dogs. I could never give them up.

  5. Daisy is SO cute. Poor Mom, but I do understand the decision. I guess either way would have it's pros and cons, she sure is a sweetheart though.

  6. Daisy is so pretty! I'm sure that must have been a really hard decision for your mom. But I also know that she'll take extra care in placing Daisy into just the right home.

I'm with Barbara - I couldn't foster because I'd want to keep them all.

Yes, black dogs are difficult to photograph! I'm glad that Chico's eyebrows are light because otherwise, his face and eyes would blend in together in pix.

  7. We know how perfect you are Corbin. But it must be so hard to let the fosters go.

SHE knows all about trying to photograph black dogs.

  9. Your mum has been very brave to make a decision like that - but it's so good that she can offer such a lovely foster home to lots of pups and dogs while they wait for their forever families. And it must be nice for you to get some quality time between fosters too.

Daisy is adorable and you're being a great bruv to her. I'm sure she'll be happily settled with someone soon. Meanwhile you're all making her feel very loved and safe.

    Love and licks, Winnie

  18. Corbin, thanks for the inspiration! You have a way with words. Every day I struggle with the decision whether to become a foster failure, or keep the revolving door open for other precious pups...but I know you're right!

No troubles making THAT black dog look cute!
