Good news/Bad news

Well, I guess I'll start by saying that we're all safe from Irene!  She was a bit crazy while she visited, and a lot of places near me are having some serious damage from her.  But at my home, we're A-OK.

I kept an eye on Irene to make sure she didn't hurt my house!
And now for the bad news....
Oreo's back.
She's not staying with me this time, because we have Mia.  So she's hanging out with Emmett and Heather -where she's super happy.  Mom has a lot of HBO words to say about the Jackbutt who returned her... all the lies he told about his knowledge of dogs and his willingness to work with her.  Mom offered two behaviorists, paid for by the rescue, and this guy wanted nothing to do with it - after mom told him before he adopted her that this would be a good idea right off the bat, and he seemed super cool with it.  Life and learn.... Man, I really hate telling you this awful news.

But, trying not to focus on stupid, heartless people.... Oreo is very happy to be back somewhere where she can calm down and not be on edge 24/7.  She knows she's safe with Heather and that she doesn't have to get anxious about anything.  We will find her the best home... and thankfully, Oreo deals very very very well with coming back.  We will have a behaviorist go out to the home of anyone interested in her BEFORE an adoption takes place.  No adoption will be final until our behaviorist agrees it's the right home for her.

Oreo slept for a while now that she knew
all was okay in the world and she could rest.
On the bright side, Mom isn't in jail for killing the idiot who had Oreo for over a month without letting her know that ANYTHING was wrong.
But we're happy that Oreo is safe and back with us.
She likes that Emmet likes to cuddle more than I do.

C'est la vie... or something like that.

I hope all of my furiends that were visited by Irene are safe!

  1. Hey Corbin!
Wow, I'm glad your pack and territory are all safe and sound! Great job protecting your turf. Sorry to hear about Oreo...peeps can sometimes be heartless. At least there's comfort for her now and there's a perfect home out there for her somewhere.

  2. So glad you is a-okay up there Corbin! We feel furry sad fur the peeples and animals wot got the worst of it. Mom's house in St. Louis flooded in the Great Flood of 1993 so she knows wot they is going thru and mom says hasing indoor pools like that is not fun.

  3. I'm glad you made it through Irene with no problems.

I'm sorry to hear about Oreo but I'm glad that now she is safe and happy and can relax. I'm glad your Mom didn't kill anyone but I can understand how upset she must be.

  4. Oh Corbin, we're glad you and your family all made it through Irene without any problems. And we're glad Miss Oreo found her way back to you and Emmett rather than being somewhere where she is not wanted. Have a good week!

  5. Glad everybody is ok!

So sad to see Oreo back, I was hoping she found her furever home. But it sounds like it is better for her to be back. I always say this, but at least she can find comfort and relax and around you and Emmett. With everybody working so hard for her she is sure to find a great loving home that is right for her.

  6. Corbin, maybe your mama can send us an email and tell us more about poor Oreo's trouble finding her forever-home. We always wonder how long until we have a foster like this-- where she or he just has a hard time "sticking"

  14. I'm glad that you're ok despite Irene but that is awful news about Oreo. What a jerk that guy was. I like the new plan about a behaviorist helping to decide if a home is OK for Oreo. That's a great idea.

Thanks for helping Oreo and Mia!

  17. Poor Oreo. That sucks! I am sure she will eventually find the right home and having the behavorist screen the adopters is a great idea. Don't give up! Everything will work out!

  20. i dunno.... at least the guy brought her back instead of ditching her somewhere or leaving her at some random shelter. Sometimes people think they know more than they really do. Looks like he thought he could handle the situation and was wrong.
Glad everyone is OK and that Oreo has good people who really have her best interests at heart to come back to, and help her find that forever home!

  21. How frustrating about Oreo. I think this is the hardest part of rescue. Hopefully she will find a good home soon!

  25. Gald to hear you are all OK that end.
Sorry to hear about Oreo, some folks just don't see the commitment in rehoming dogs, which in the right home can pay back a hundred fold
    Have a good week
