Thanks

From the momma:

Thanks for everyones comments yesterday, and mostly, understanding our hesitation.  We want to give Amelia, and all of the other Amelia's out there, a fair shot, so we do have a "if she's not adopted by" date in mind.  If a perfect forever home comes around before then, we know our fate is to help more Amelia's.  In the meantime, she's got every ounce of love and snuggles she could ever want.  We go to the vet tonight to get a urinary issue checked out.  I did opt to take her to Dr. Mike instead of a vet that's much closer to us that I usually bring our fosters to.  I'd like for Mike to meet her and weigh in his opinion of us keeping a second dog.

Couldn't leave you without a picture of the kids.
So, here they are on their way home from our walk the other night!

Either Corbin or Amelia will be back to the blog tomorrow!

  1. What a perfect pair (of siblings???)! Good luck at the vet. We're sending good mojo your way for the RIGHT decision -- whatever that is!

  2. I missed the previous post, but, as you may have figured out - the more bouncy, energetic, snuggly, loving, silly, goofy - the merrier!! She seems like a great fit, the way Otto has been :-)

  3. Two times the love...yep, can't go wrong. Amelia and Corbin look so good together!

  4. You know - even if you do keep amelia - it doesn't mean you still can't help the rescue - maybe you don't bring dogs home anymore - but you can fund raise - spread the word - be ambassadors - there is always more than one to help :) But you were wrong on one thing - yes there are other dogs out there - but the is only ONE amelia - that is what makes her so special :)

  5. We just have the best wishes for you about Amelia. She truly is a special one especially after reading your previous post. Corbin does look at her as a sister.

  6. I do understand your hesitation in keeping Amelia, having 2 dogs would definitely make fostering more of a challenge! Or maybe not possible most of the time. It's amazing that you've fostered 29 so far. :)
I agree with rottriver, Amelia does seem like such a good fit though!

  7. ^2 Punk Dogs' first sentence was exactly what I was going to say! Things will work out the way they're supposed to, and I'll just keep my fingers crossed that you get to keep Amelia.

I love that you have fostered so many dogs. I just don't think I'd have the heart to do it. I'd fall in love with every single one of them and want to keep them all. Thank you for being strong enough not to do that, and helping out all those fosters who otherwise might not have a chance.

  8. It is so good that you are being so level-headed about it, and for us the hard thing with 2 are the extra food and medical costs, and the fact we can't really travel. And like everyone else has said, the 'meant to be' philosophy is good too.

  13. Well, I will just add one more voice to the mix (or two more woofs!) and say that whatever you decide will be the right decision. (and that you are giving it such thought makes me think you are perfect for her...!)

I think Amelia and Corbin look great together - I love this photo!

  17. What a sweet photo of the two of them. The "right" decision will become clear - I feel sure of it. For now, you are giving Amelia everything that she could want - love, first and foremost.

  19. We fostered Greyhounds for a long time, and then we got Lilac. I resisted for a while, but she was here for three months with not one serious inquiry. We finally accepted that she was meant to be here with us, and we signed the adoption papers. Yes, it meant that we couldn't foster anymore, but we have never been sorry that we did it. She fit into our lives very seamlessly and she while we thought it would be a short term thing because of her age, she made life really entertaining for us. We did have other fosters that I really liked, but things didn't work out for one reason or another. I think things just worked out the way they were meant to for us. I hope that things work out for Amelia, too! :)

  20. Tough decision I know:) Best thing is to just stay open to the perfect adopter materializing, and on the other hand remembering that even if you do keep her, there's other ways to help the other Amelias besides fostering them.

  21. It's a tough decision, but we know you will make the right one - either way!
