Corbin's momma here again. I really hate to keep updating with crappy news and I don't want to not update and keep everyone in the dark... but Corbin is no better. He's still not drinking well - we've tried chicken broth, beef broth and chicken and beef baby food mixed in. The broth worked well Sunday, but then he was sick of that. And the baby food worked great last night, so I was pretty excited, but he turned his nose up at it this morning, no matter how I doctored it up. He has been eating fine and I fill his food bowl with water, which he'll drink to get to the food, but it just doesn't seem to be enough water. We'll probably have to go in again tonight for more fluids if he doesn't start drinking. I've thought about doing the fluids at home, but I keep hoping that every trip will be our last... plus, I'm not sure how well he'd sit still for it at home. And, we still have Lexie, who has been an angel with all the attention Corbin has been getting.
He was in pain all night... moaning, groaning and yelping when he'd move. I called my vet this morning at his home, not the vet we have been seeing, but our friend that owns the vet hospital. I told him I was very concerned that this was possibly something else and that Corbin's pain seems to be getting worse. He went into the vets office and took a look at Corbin's file. He thinks it might be in his back - although the pancreatitis did come back positive, he's not vomiting or showing any other signs. He upped his pain meds and Adam is on his way to get an anti inflammatory to start him on. We have an appointment with Dr. Mike tomorrow at 7. He wanted him on the anti inflammatory and pain meds before we went in for an appointment.
I've been up all night with him since Saturday... I'm worried sick about my poor boy. It's so hard to see him in pain like this. Hopefully, we can get him comfortable and figure out what is going on.
There is still the possibility that it's the pancreatitis... but since his pain is when he stretches his abdomen... that's typically something they do to relieve the pressure on the pancreas, so it shouldn't be causing pain :-(
I'll be back with another update tomorrow... hard to find the words for Corbin when he's hurting...
It is so hard to see our dogs in pain and not know what to do. I hope the new meds start helping. Hopefully, tomorrows update will be better news.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear that Corbin is not doing any better. Make no mistake, I have not taken off my JUJU ears since hearing the news and I am UPPING the JUJU dosage as we speak. I really really really want Corbin smiling and happy again.
ReplyDeleteLove Noodles

ReplyDeleteOh my.....this is not the update we were hoping for. We are wondering, too, if there isn't something else going on. WHatever it is, we hope the Vet gets it figured out soon!!!
ReplyDeleteGET BETTER SOON, CORBIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Poor little man :-(
ReplyDeleteTrying to think the most positive, a pinched nerve would be hopefully be easiest to fix? Good job being a squeaky wheel and going up the ladder, that's how he will get better.
Love and hugs,
Bonnie and her mom
Poor Corbin, just as you (Corbin's Momma) we were all praying he would turn good corner as well. We have to agree there must be something else happening with him. I know each case is differnt but I have dealt a lot with pancreatitis in my hounds. Even had a few on IVs in the vet hospital it was so bad, but within a few days they all began eating and drinking very well. We think you are very wise to keep pushing for more tests or another opinion. We have to be the voice for our fur-babies so keep up your campaign for him. Sending lots more healing drool and power of the paw for our bestest Cracker Critter friend. Sniffs, The HoundDogs
ReplyDeleteOH my, i'm so sorry. Big vibes going out to Corbin. The best place for him right now is at the vet, no matter how cracker he will be. they should just drug him to calm him. Juno got VERY sick a few years ago and was hospitalized for 5 days on fluids. they never did find the source of her infection and we never knew if it was viral or bacterial. they couldn't treat with steroids because if it was bacterial, she would die from steriods. we couldn't take the chance of treating it that way. so you have to be very careful about how to go about treatment and if it's the wrong treatment and it's something else going on, the best place for him to be is AT the hospital so they can monitor. seriously. So no more saddies about putting him there. k? We're pullin' for you!
ReplyDeleteWild Dingo, Loki and Juno
Our paws are crossed for Corbin and we're sending rottie kisses...
ReplyDelete-Bart and Ruby
Sorry to hear Corbin is not well, we have our paws crossed for him, and that the vets find out what is causing it.

ReplyDeletePoor baby! Healing thoughts and prayers for Corbin! Hang in there... He needs you. Big smoochie and hugs!
ReplyDeleteMom can't remember of Angel Tucker had any of those other symptoms when he had his pan-cre-a-titus and she doesn't think he did either. Just the pain. When he would walk, his tail hung down low and he moved very guardedly, if at all. I don't remember any vomiting or dye-a-reba. In any case, we is both sending Mr. Corbin all the positive energy and love we can muster.
ReplyDeletexoxoxo <---- dats for Corbin and his momma to share.

ReplyDeleteSarah.......The Mommy
Poor Corbin. We were definitely hoping for better news today. :( I've never dealt with pancreatitis in a dog -- only in our cat, and it was also very serious. We had her in the hospital for 3 days to get fluids/round the clock care, but she did improve dramatically after that time. We're keeping our fingers, toes, and paws crossed for you guys!
ReplyDeleteWe love you, Corbin! Keep fighting and PLEASE drink some more water!
ReplyDeleteYour pal,Pip
Poor guy. I really hope you get to the bottom of things soon.
ReplyDeleteOh, my heart just aches for Corbin AND for you. I'm keeping my paws crossed that he's gonna turn a corner real soon and get on the road to recovery. At my house, we're ALL thinking of all of you. Please get better soon, Corbin. And CorbinMomma - try to get some rest and take care of yourself, too, okay?

I know that you're taking the best possible care of Corbin - and he is very lucky to have you. Please give him pats from us.
ReplyDeleteOh Corbin-
ReplyDeleteWe have been out of the loop for a few days....sorry to hear that you are feeling so bad. Crossing our paws and saying our prayers for you tonight buddy. Get well soon, cuz we voted for you to take Mayzie to the dance and we expect to see you there with your pretty date.
Wyatt and Stanzie
Can you see a different vet? Oh Corbin, please get better!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear that there hasn't been any relief for Corbin yet.
ReplyDeleteThis may sound really silly, but is it possible he ate something that is stuck? For some reason it's the first thing that came to mind. Is he still going pee OK? Sorry, don't mean to play doctor, these ideas just flashed into my mind for some reason.
Hope Corbin feels better real soon.
We have all our feets crossed for Corbin. We have been sending all good vibes. How about low fat cottage cheese and cooked white rice mixed together.....you could do it big boy
ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
I'm so sorry to hear about your handsome, good Corbin. We're thinking positive thoughts and will keep you and Corbin in our thoughts and prayers. Tell him that a gorgeous, fluffy tailed Northern girl thinks he's very cute!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about Corbin being so ill. I have been playing catch-up and learned about it over on Rottover's blog. I feel so remiss I haven't been by in a bit, but please know we are thinking of Corbin and will start a pawcircle of healing for him on our Facebook page and Twitter so many can send him positive healing vibes. Husky hugs to you all...and we will wait to hear the good news that he will be feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteWe pray you have a terrific vet and that he can work miracles. There may be other things going on, but the not drinking and the consequent dehydration can be an aspect of acute pancreatitis and you already know how serious that can be. Wild Dingo has a point; if Corbin needs to be drugged to be hospitalized and if hospitalization is necessary to save him, then that has to be faced. We know you're moving heaven and earth for Corbin. You know we love him, and you.
ReplyDeleteJed & Abby
Poor Corbin! Get lots of rest and be sure to take your meds. The hospital isn't a fun place, but all of those nice people only want to help you feel better. I hope you have a speedy recovery.

ReplyDeleteLove,
Louie, Jack & Peter and our Mudder, Tina
Have you tried using a syringe or bulb and forcing (not really forcing, but dropping a couple of tablespoons in the back of his jowels every 20 minutes. At least that way you wouldn't have to worry about dehydration or having to put him on fluid.
ReplyDeletealthough we have done the fluids at home too. Since your up all night anyway.
Good luck. We ar all so worried about Corbin. Especially Allred.
*sigh* oh corbin. I duz feel for you my pal. I dunno if i can do much to elp but we keep on finkin of you and send ealin thoughts your way. Woof
